Ibuprofen
Indications/Uses
Relieve mild to moderate pain eg, pain in dental disease or after tooth extraction, primary dysmenorrhea, post-op pain, headache.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 5 mL 3 or 4 times daily. Childn 8-12 yr 5 mL 3 or 4 times daily, 3-7 yr 2.5 mL 3-4 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe & active peptic ulcer; nasal polyp syndrome; angioderma. 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Peptic ulcer; HTN, heart failure; blood clotting disorders; asthma/bronchospasm; SLE; acetosal & anticoagulant agent (warfarin). Renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <1 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Rarely, GI disorders, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or burning sensation in upper abdomen, diarrhea, constipation, peptic hemorrhage; rash; bronchospasm; thrombocytopenia, lymphopenia; vision disorders; edema.
Drug Interactions
Increase lithium level in blood; reduce antihypertensive effect; concomitant use w/ aminoglycosides may increase level in blood.
